  • How do I make a claim

    In the event of damage to, or theft of your car, there are a few simple steps you need to follow:

  • Remember to have your Policy Number on hand
  • You need to complete a Claim Form for us. This can be obtained from our offices
  • Your Claim Form must be accompanied by a copy of your ID and Driver's Licence.
  • Important Note! You need to advise us as soon as possible of any pending claim (within 30 days of you becoming aware of the incident)

    Based on the type of claim, the procedures and requirements from this point differ slightly.

    MY CAR HAS BEEN STOLEN...
    If your car has been stolen, you need to follow these simple steps for us to assist with your claim:.

    • Report the matter to the SAPS as soon as possible (preferably within 24 hours).

    • A copy of the Vehicle Registration documents can be included when you fax through the Claim Form to us (if you have it available).

    • We would need details of any outstanding finance on the car (specifically, with which bank, and your account number with them)

    Once we have all the above, we will advise you on your Claim Number, and keep you informed as to the status of your claim.

    MY CAR HAS BEEN DAMAGED...
    If your car has been damaged - follow these simple steps:

    • Report the incident to the SAPS as soon as possible (preferably within 24 hours).

    • Obtain a quote for the damages from any Approved Repairer, and include it with the other documents you send through to us.

    Once we have all the above, an assessment of the damages will be arranged. The assessor's findings will be conveyed to you along with your Claim Number as soon as possible.

    MY WINDSCREEN IS DAMAGED...
    If the autoglass on your car has been damaged, repairing or replacing it is as easy as:

    • Give us a call with your Policy Number

    • We will refer you to your nearest glass fitment centre.

    • They will arrange authorization for the repair or replacement.

    You would then pay the excess to the fitment centre, and off you go...

WHAT DO I NEED TO GET A QUOTE?

When you are shopping for motor insurance, to avoid the frustration of ringing back, make sure you have several bits of information at hand:

  • Car make and model
  • Registration number
  • Full residential postcode (we need to know where you live)
  • Number of years of no-claims discount
  • Where the car is normally kept overnight - street, garage, etc
  • Details of other drivers - name, date of birth, licence type, residential address and occupation
  • What the car will be used for - social domestic and pleasure or business
  • Estimated annual mileage
  • Type of cover - comprehensive, third-party fire and theft, or third party only
  • Full details of claims or convictions in the last three years.

WHAT WILL FAMILY INSURANCE BROKERS LTD NEED TO INSURE MY VEHICLE?

  • A copy of your Vehicle Inspection.
  • If you have a Tracking Device in the vehicle, include a copy of your Tracking Device Certificate. If you require a Tracking Device, we can make the necessary arrangements for you.

Once we've received all your documentation, and your policy has been incepted, we will fax you a copy of your Schedule of Insurance.

You will receive the original in the post shortly thereafter.

WHAT IS COVERED BY FAMILY INSURANCE BROKERS?
There are three options available when insuring your vehicle, and these options determine what is covered by the policy.

Comprehensive Cover
This option is the most extensive of the three options. The following is covered:

  • Loss or damage to the vehicle

  • Medical expenses as a result of the incident (subjects to the limits specified in the policy)

  • Repair or replacement of the window glass

  • Replacement of locks and keys (subjects to the limits specified in the policy)

  • Hotel expenses incurred as a result of the incident (subjects to the limits specified in the policy)

  • Liability for unauthorized passengers (subjects to the limits specified in the policy)

  • Credit shortfall if the vehicle is still financed

  • Liability to Third Parties and their property (subjects to the limits specified in the policy)

You can also opt to cover the sound equipment in your car under Comprehensive Cover.

Third Party Only
This option only covers your liability to Third Parties and their property. It will not cover any loss or damage to your vehicle.

Third Party, Fire and Theft
This option covers your liability to Third Parties and their property. It will also cover loss or damage to your vehicle from fire, or theft.

WHAT ISN'T COVERED?
Like any insurance policy, there are certain circumstances under which Redisure will not indemnify you. In brief, the policy is not going to cover:

  • Any excesses which might apply

  • Consequential loss

  • Wear and tear, mechanical or electrical breakdown and depreciation

  • Loss or damage outside the territorial limits of Kenya

  • Loss or damage to the car whilst being driven by someone without a valid driver's licence

  • Loss or damage to the car whilst being driven by anyone under the influence of intoxicating drugs or alcohol

The following is not covered by this policy, but may be covered under later

  • Loss or damage cause by riots, strikes and civil commotion.

  • Any nuclear related loss or damage.
